I'm not going to lie, it feels a bit funny having created a design where 5-10,000 pieces are being issued to the factory. This reminds me of the fundamental differences between software products and hardward:
There are no remote updates, so every element needs to be tested with even more scrutiny than a software would be concerned with. Particularly when dealing with fabricating in China, where there can often be some discrepancies when it comes to materials and processes, nailing the hardware with hundreds of iterations through physical prototyping and rigorous testing is mandatory.
I will write more on the details of hardware startups later, but for now a bit of celebration is in order.
